Bustin’ Clays Clay Shoot Fundraiser Friday, September 29th! The Rotary Club of Brandon kicks off its fundraising season this Friday as it hosts its annual Bustin’ Clays Clay Shoot at Fish Hawk Sporting Clays. There are still opportunities to participate for those wanting to bring a team, be a shooter or just come on down for the barbecue. Registration begins at 3:00 which will be followed by a safety briefing and then the shoot.
After all of the clays have been shot, fellowship, friendship and a ton of food will be on hand with the barbecue and raffle drawing. As for the club meeting, Sergeant At Arms Fred Schwabe was in prime form with every joke hitting its target. President Dave announced that the club will soon be inducting three more members to the club as Alexis Weaver, Todd Allen and Pat Skidmore II will all soon be Rotarians. A big reminder that our Bustin’ Clays Clay Shoot is scheduled for Friday, September 29th at Fish Hawk Sporting Clays. George Simmons Riverview Boys and Girls Club’s upcoming corn hole tournament.
Way to go, Rotary Club of Brandon! President Dave suggested to the club that our upcoming Fireside Chat be moved to the Rivard-Simmons Rotary Event Center due to a conflict with Rotary’s Camp Florida and that it be a club social. Event chair Steve Moran will be leading this as a Filipino-Irish themed event with authentic cuisine, drinks and fun. All Rotarians, spouses and future Rotarians are invited for the October 10th event! This coming week is our club assembly and fundraising prep time. Rotary Club of Brandon Inducts Adam Bantner, Taylor Bell as New Rotarians! The Rotary Club of Brandon got a little bigger and better this past week as the club celebrated the induction of new Rotarians Adam Bantner and Taylor Bell.
Both members now go through the “Baby Rote” program where they will learn more about Rotary International, the Rotary Club of Brandon and get indoctrinated into the overall world that Rotary touches. We and the community are expecting big things from your years of future Rotary service! Our Tuesday, September 12th Social has been postponed to a date to be determined later due to the impending hurricane. We ask that everyone use this time to take care of your families, businesses and homes.
The Rotary Club of Brandon kicked off National Beer Month in prime fashion with guest speaker, John Corsemyer, the amazing VP of Sales for Three Daughters Brewery in St. The meeting got started with Sergeant At Arms, Fred Schwabe, doing his best to get the crowd into the meeting, and he welcomed a ton of guests and visiting Rotarians. Immediate Past President of the Brandon ’86 Club, Jake Mathers, was in the house as was former California Rotarian Taylor Bell. Past District Governor and longtime Rotarian, Alan Feldman, gave a phenomenal presentation on the club’s plans on bringing back our illustrious Baby Rote program so we can educate new members on the history and impact of both Rotary International and the Rotary Club of Brandon. Alan will be meeting with each new Rotarian this year to introduce them to the Baby Rote program so they are better equipped and prepared for a great Rotary experience! John Gardner then introduced John Corsemyer from Three Daughters, and he took over the show.
John gave a great rundown of 3 Daughters’ history, partnerships, strategies and future goals. Of course, the entire club was engaged! Next week’s guest speaker is longtime Brandon community leader, Cindy Sofarelli, who will be talking to us about Metropolitan Ministries. Publix Visits to Celebrate National Ice Cream Month! The meeting started off with introducing our guests and visiting Rotarians. Call Doyle, a local relator who works for Florida Realty and was invited by John Dwyer, wanted to learn more about Rotary and potentially joining us on a permanent basis.
Also, Alexis Weaver who is relatively new to the area and works for The Bottle Crew stopped in for lunch to check us out. Alexis’ mon was a Rotarian and Alexis is looking for a club to join. Well, I think she may have found the one! We had Rotarian and Immediate Past President of the Brandon ’86 Club Jake Mathers visit us as well as he is interested in helping us with our website link for the Rivard Simmons Rotary Event Center.
